My name is Anna Schäfer Edwards and I am enjoying a second career.
I am a continuous learner and believe there’s no limit to my capacity to learn new concepts. This is how I feel about myself and about the world.
I believe it is important to focus on people’s strengths, even though it is easy to point out their weaknesses. We all have both sides. As a therapist, I want to ensure you know how to explore your strengths and help you understand that your weaknesses shaped who you are as a person.
As a child, I grew up in a not so desired environment, but somehow I found a way to persevere and find rewards in life. I still work to improve my insecurities around my personality. Perfection is not what I strive for. It can’t be.
I don’t discriminate and I consider myself to be very welcoming to diverse opinions while I stand up for justice and equality. I have many friends from different religions, cultures, and demographics. Maybe because I lived in 4 different countries, I can relate and understand most issues that affect our generations.
Anna Schäfer Edwards degrees
– Master in Family Therapy at NSU (Nova Southeastern University)
– Master in Business Administration at NSU (Nova Southeastern University)
– Bachelors in International Relations at FIU (Florida International University)
My best skill
I speak 4 languages fluently and I lived in 4 countries.
Tell me anything: most likely I have seen it, lived it, or heard it. If not, I will be curious to learn from you without judgment.
What are my professional accomplishments?
20 years of experience in Management working for aerospace companies in different roles, mostly related to continuous improvement and lean methodologies. Not a career I chose, but a career I fell into because I needed to support myself. I did not follow the traditional model of going to college right after high school.
Pretty cool skill to have, some say. At work people called me “Follow-up Queen”. Maybe because I am pretty good at the execution of tasks and accountability? I think so.
If I had the chance to go back in time, I would have done some professional things differently: I would have prioritized relationships over accomplishments.
Do you know when people say you get promoted based on your social skills and not your technical skills? Yep, it took me a long time to learn that.
Once divorced, currently married in a relationship for over 11 years. One child.
I like to read books about how the brain functions, somehow I find it fascinating. More book smart than street smart. I like simple things in life: cooking, entertaining, and home renovations. I will share with you whatever you want but your therapy is not about me.
You can find Anna Schäfer Edwards in Cooper City, FL at the CWCSF. This is where my practice is where I see clients. I can also see clients through telehealth as a result of COVID-19. We will see you whichever way is most comfortable for both of us.
